Overview

Uganda's smallest national park is also one of its most spectacular. Perched high in the clouds between 2,227m and 4,127m, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park safeguards the northern slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes. The only park in Uganda where Golden Monkeys and Mountain Gorillas coexist.

Dramatically situated on the floor of the Western Great Rift Valley between the towering Rwenzori Mountains and Lake Albert. Gazetted in 1926, it was one of Uganda's first protected areas. The vegetation is a rare mix of grassy savanna, Borassus palm forest, and riverine woodland.
