Day 3: Top of the Falls & Return to Kampala
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch (DLB)
Context & Activities:
Early morning visit to the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge. The thundering waters roar as they crash into the gorge below, sending up a fine mist that cools the air and carries the fresh scent of riverine vegetation.
Sunlight refracting through the mist often produces vivid rainbows, adding stunning color to your wide-angle shots.
Walk along the rim to Devil’s Cauldron, where the turbulent water churns in a frothy whirlpool, a dramatic display of the river’s raw power.
Birds in the gorge include African Fish Eagles, Pied Kingfishers, Malachite Kingfishers, while monkeys and bushbucks may appear along the rim for candid wildlife photography.
After capturing panoramic landscapes, return to Kampala with lunch en route.
Safari ends upon arrival.
Photography Tips:
Wide-angle lens (16–35mm) for sweeping panoramas and rainbows.
Telephoto lenses (70–200mm or 100–400mm) for birds, monkeys, and distant wildlife.
Early morning light softens highlights and enhances waterfall texture.
Consider a polarizer to reduce glare on mist and water.
