Day 1: Arrival in Uganda — Transfer to Kampala
Pickup from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) and transfer to your hotel/residence in Kampala. Take this evening to relax and prepare your camera bags for the trek ahead.

Day 2: Kampala → Jinja → Mbale — Drive and Landscape Photography
Drive east through the lush Ugandan countryside, with an optional scenic stop in Jinja, home to the Source of the Nile. Continue past expansive sugar and tea plantations to Mbale, the vibrant gateway town to Mt. Elgon National Park.
Distance: Approx. 235 km / 4–5 hours drive.
📷 Photo Tips: Capture the winding Nile landscapes, roadside cultural scenes, and the changing light over the farmlands.

Day 3: Trek Budadiri (1,250 m) → Sasa River Camp (2,900 m) — The Ascent Begins
Transfer to the trailhead at Budadiri. The first day of the Sasa Trail is a challenging but rewarding climb through local farmlands, dense bamboo forests, and montane vegetation. The route includes ascending the famous Mudange Cliffs (locally known as the “Wall of Death”) which offers dramatic views.
Trekking: 8 km / 7–8 hours.
Altitude Gain: 1,650 m.
📷 Photo Tips: Frame local Bagisu people working on steep farmlands. Use f/8+ for texture and depth in the bamboo forest.
Overnight: Sasa River Camp (Camping/Basic Huts).

Day 4: Sasa River Camp → Mude Cave Camp (3,500 m) — Into the Cloud Forest
A shorter trek into the thick montane forest, where moss-draped trees create an ethereal atmosphere. The landscape transitions from forest to high-altitude scrub. Mude Cave Camp is a misty base providing stunning views when the clouds part.
Trekking: 5 km / 4–5 hours.
Altitude Gain: 600 m.
📷 Photo Tips: Capture light streaming through the canopy. In the evening, use wide-angle lenses for the star-filled sky.
Overnight: Mude Cave Camp (Camping/Basic Huts).

Day 5: Summit Wagagai Peak (4,321 m) → Return to Mude Camp — Caldera and Summit Challenge
Early start for the summit push across the moorlands to Wagagai Peak (4,321 m). Traverse the rim of the spectacular caldera — the largest in the world — with views stretching into Kenya.
Trekking: 18 km (return) / 8–10 hours.
Altitude Gain: 821 m.
📷 Photo Tips: Use a wide lens (16–35mm) for the caldera rim; telephoto for portraits of Giant Groundsels.
Overnight: Mude Cave Camp (Camping/Basic Huts).

Day 6: Descent to Budadiri → Transfer to Mbale — Framing the Ecosystem Transition
Descend through the bamboo and montane forest back to Budadiri, documenting the full transition of the mountain’s ecosystems. Drive back to Mbale for a comfortable night.
Trekking: ~13 km / 5–7 hours.
Drive: 15 km / 30 mins (Budadiri–Mbale).

Day 7: Mbale → Kampala — Relaxation and Reflection
After breakfast, drive back to Kampala with sweeping views of the eastern countryside. Check into your hotel and review your mountain portfolio.

Day 8: Departure — Farewell to the Pearl of Africa
Enjoy a final breakfast before your guide transfers you to Entebbe International Airport (EBB) for your onward flight.
