Day 2: Kampala – Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Activity 1: Equator Stop & Road Journey
Early in the morning, depart Kampala. Stop at the Equator line in Kayabwe for iconic photos before continuing through lush tea plantations and rolling hills. Lunch is served in Mbarara before entering Queen Elizabeth NP in the afternoon.
The Equator & Road Journey: At Kayabwe, you can stand with one foot in each hemisphere. Local guides demonstrate how water flows differently in the north and south — a favorite travel moment. Along the way, you’ll pass tea estates, banana plantations, and small villages, ideal for cultural photography.
📷 Photo Tip: Tea plantations work best with a wide-angle lens (16–35mm). If workers are present in bright clothing, use a mid-range zoom (24–105mm) to capture human detail within the green patterns.

Day 3: Kasenyi Plains Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
Activity 1: Morning – Game Drive in Kasenyi Plains
Head out early with a packed breakfast for a sunrise game drive in Kasenyi Plains. This area is known for lion–kob interactions and predators at sunrise.
Kasenyi is a prime lekking ground for Uganda kob, where males display and females gather to mate. This constant activity draws lions, making the plains one of the best places in Uganda to witness predator-prey encounters in action.
📷 Photo Tip: A 400–600mm lens works best for kob and lions. Watch for dawn light catching the herds — and keep your camera ready for sudden chases.
📷 Photo Tip: Use ISO 800–1600 at dawn with a 300–600mm telephoto lens. Backlit dust trails behind kob add drama when captured with fast shutter speeds.
📸 Photography Highlights – Kasenyi
Wildlife: Lions, kob, elephants, buffalo
Birds: Secretary birds, kori bustards
Best Light: Golden dawn
Activity 2: Afternoon – Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel
After lunch, enjoy a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, a 32 km waterway linking Lake Edward and Lake George. Expect hippos, elephants, buffalo, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife at close range.
Kazinga hosts one of Africa’s largest concentrations of hippos and is a magnet for elephants and buffalo. Birds such as pelicans, kingfishers, and fish eagles thrive here, making it one of Uganda’s richest ecosystems.
📷 Photo Tip: Carry two setups: a telephoto (400mm+) for birds and close-up wildlife, and a wide lens (24–70mm) for herds and reflections. Use a polarizer to reduce glare on water.
📸 Photography Highlights – Kazinga Channel
Wildlife: Hippos, elephants, buffalo, crocodiles
Birds: Pelicans, kingfishers, fish eagles
Landscapes: Wildlife-packed riverbanks
Best Light: Afternoon golden glow

Day 4: — Katwe Salt Flats: Mosaics of Toil and Beauty → Ishasha
After breakfast, set out for Lake Katwe, where centuries-old salt mining unfolds in vivid textures and stories. The salt pans shimmer like mosaics — fractured earth, mirrored skies, and bold lines stitched into a natural quilt. Photograph miners at work, women trading their harvest, and children darting playfully among the mounds, each frame brimming with resilience. With luck, nearby Lake Munyanyange may dazzle with flamingos tinting the water blush-pink — a living canvas in motion.
Photo Tip: Use a wide lens for salt-pan patterns and mirrored skies, then a 70–200mm for portraits of miners and traders.

Crater Lakes: The crater field was shaped by volcanic explosions thousands of years ago. Today, it provides some of Uganda’s most dramatic landscapes, stretching toward the Rwenzori Mountains.
📷 Photo Tip: Use silhouettes of lone trees or people against crater rims for strong compositions. Wide-angle (16–35mm) lenses capture scale.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura Gorge
Activity 1: Morning – Chimpanzee Trek in Kyambura Gorge
Early descent into Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee tracking.
Kyambura Gorge: Nicknamed the “Valley of the Apes,” Kyambura is a deep forested canyon cutting through the savannah. It shelters chimpanzees, monkeys, and diverse birdlife, contrasting beautifully with the grasslands above.
📷 Photo Tip: Forest light is low — set ISO 1600–3200, use wide apertures (f/2.8–f/4), and a fast shutter to freeze chimp movements.
📸 Photography Highlights – Kyambura

Day 6: Transfer to Ishasha – Evening Game Drive
Activity 1: Morning – Scenic Drive to Ishasha
Travel south through savannah landscapes into the remote Ishasha sector.
Ishasha: This wilderness borders Congo and is one of only two places in Africa where lions habitually climb trees. Its remote beauty makes it a photographer’s paradise.
📷 Photo Tip: Keep your camera ready — elephants and topi often appear along the roadside.
Activity 2: Evening – Ishasha Game Drive
After lunch, head out for your first game drive in Ishasha, searching for tree-climbing lions in fig and acacia trees.
📷 Photo Tip: Use side lighting at golden hour to highlight textures in lion fur and tree bark. Wait for behavioral shots — a yawn or cub climbing makes iconic frames.

Return for another drive in the late afternoon, focusing on elephants by the Ntungwe River and wide savannah landscapes under stormy skies.
📷 Photo Tip: Afternoon storm light can be dramatic — use wide shots for elephants against brooding skies.

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning of shopping and cultural browsing at Kampala’s vibrant craft markets — from handwoven baskets and barkcloth to beadwork, wood carvings, and colorful textiles. These make both meaningful souvenirs and photographic subjects in their own right.
After shopping, transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your outbound flight. If time allows, pause at the Equator line once more, capturing the playful balance of standing in both hemispheres at once — a fitting symbol of your journey across Uganda.
