One of the biggest surprises at the source of the Nile is Mahatma Gandhi’s statue. Gandhi is considered to be the father of the nation of India for transforming it into a democratic nation. He is also remembered for his activism in South Africa during the Apartheid regimes. As per his wish, after his death in 1948, his ashes were divided and scattered in several of the world’s great rivers, including the Nile in Uganda.
