Kasenge is a popular birding destination in Uganda with diverse birdlife and easy accessibility from Kampala. Kasenge is relatively close to Kampala, making it a convenient option for a day trip or a weekend getaway.
Located 30km on the Kampala – Jinja highway and about 3km off the road, Kasenge Forest is a privately owned natural forest in Mukono District. It harbours a range of wildlife, birds, butterflies, tree species, monkeys, snakes and small animals such as Squirrels and Genet cats
Birding
Kasenge Forest boasts of 200 avian species making it one of the most sought after birders paradises that any bird making it a birder’s dream. One can combine a birding trip to Kasenge with with Mabira Forest or Sezibwa Falls all of which offer excellent birding opportunities.
The forest is known for being a good place to spot the elusive Green Hylia.
